Top 5 Most Influential Celebrities

There is a thin line between being famous, and being a celebrity. Being famous is being known around your country without even needing to have a unique talent. I think that being a celebrity is much more than just that. It is being truly unique and even legendary, and not only being known around your country, but being known around the world. These are my top five best influences.

5: Demi Lovato

Some people might think that she was not the best influence because of her downfall in 2010, but I think she went through what millions of teens go through every year. Demetria Devonne Lovato, mostly known as Demi Lovato, is a great influence because she embraces her beauty and her flaws and she believes that no matter how you look, you are beautiful in your own way.She is a huge influence on people who have mental illnesses and her music is not always about her boyfriend or her love story. Demi has her own fanbase, named "Lovatics", who are very supportive of everything she does.  She is now portrayed as a very strong woman that learnt from her mistakes and made her past make her a more confident being.

 4: Lady Gaga

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, or Lady Gaga is known for her, well, different style and ways of expressing herself. She is a great influence because she embraces her weirdness and her differences, and encourages other to do the same, and she is a huge gay and lesbian rights supporter. Lady Gaga thinks that it's okay if you are a bit crazy sometimes, and that you should not care what the haters say because you are you and only o what makes you happy and comfortable. She not only has a great personality and is really nice to her fans, but her music is rather catchy and she produces hit after hit.

3: Ellen DeGeneres

What can I say? I don't think I know anyone who does not like Ellen. She is not only hilarious, but she is helpful and always puts other people's lives before hers. She is a member of a number of charities, and gives different kinds of people the sense of being famous, no matter how poor, rich, sick, healthy, talented and helpful they are. Ellen is a great example of what extent you should stand up for yourself, and shows that no matter who you love, how you dress or what you think, it shouldn't change who you are and where you stand.

 2: Jay-Z

Jay-Z or Shawn Corey Carter is probably one of the most successful men on earth. He is not only a very successful musician with 17 grammys, and 75 million records, but he is also an entrepreneur and an investor. He co-owns the 40/40 Club, is the co-creator of the clothing line Rocawear, the former president of Def Jam Recordings, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, the founder of Roc Nation, founded the sports agency Roc Nation Sports and is a certified NBA and MLB sports agent. That is a whole lot for just one person. He is definitely extremely successful in the business as well. He is nothing but a great example for every genration and has never broken the law either.

1: Beyoncé Knowles

Beyoncé is a very well-known celebrity around the world and is not only a fantastic performer and singer, but is a great person as well. She not only says that it is okay if you are different and to embrace your inner sexy, but she also encourages everyone to stay healthy. She promotes a healthy lifestyle and shows that you don't have to be a size 00 in jeans to be healthy and beautiful. She does not over-expose herself, and wears clothes that she knows looks appropriate and good on her, but let's face it, there is pretty much nothing that Beyoncé can't pull off. She shows exactly how you can be classy and sexy without being naked. Beyoncé has always maintained a very good image, and continues to be an amazing role model.

Social Media Famous

YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and Vine are all examples of what? In case you live under a rock and have no idea what any of those are, they are all examples of very popular social media websites and apps. It sure is fun to explore other peoples lives, and let others explore yours through all these social media, and now people have started to gain followers and fans through some of these apps and websites.

PewDiePie: The most subscribed channel on YouTube
with 26.1 million subscribers.
YouTube has always been very popular from when it started in 2005 till now. There are over 1 billion accounts and believe it or not about 1 million of them get paid for uploading YouTube videos! I thought that making videos was merely a hobby, but I guess I was wrong, since some of these YouTuber's jobs are making videos for the public. YouTube also helped some people with their career including stars like Justin Bieber, Karmin, Bethany Mota, Soulja Boy, Cody Simpson, Michelle Phan and many more.

Twitter is probably one of the most popular social media websites ever made. It has been popular since it was made in 2006 till now. It has allowed everyone to be updated 24/7 on what their favorite stars are doing. It hasn't made anyone famous or very known, but there are plenty of accounts who have a lot of followers.

Tumblr allows users to post pictures, videos, gifs and send direct messages to another account privately or publicly. The only thing about Tumblr is that it allows you to post anything, and when I say anything I mean literally ANYTHING, with barely no restrictions except for a button that doesn't allow you see anything inappropriate, but even that option can easily be turned off with a click. Being famous on tumblr is not that easy to tell because you cannot see the amount of followers an account has. The infamous name "Tumblr Girls" are known and used in other social media websites and are usually used to describe a gorgeous girl, because of the amount of "perfect looking" girls on Tumblr.
Nash Grier: One of the
most popular viners, and
is a part of the infamous
"Magcon Boys"

Vine and Instagram have now merged to be almost the same thing. They both allow users to post a video of a maximum of 7-15 seconds, and the only difference is that Instagram allows users to post pictures. Vine has allowed a lot of people to become "Vine Famous" when they hit more than 1 million follows, and also made some users upload videos on YouTube. Instagram does the same, and it helps users to promote themsleves on Vine and YouTube. Vine sponsers also get paid for every video they upload on vine.

Becoming Famous Then vs. Now

Admit it, you want to be famous, or at least you have thought about being famous when you were younger, but is it really that easy to become famous? Well, in this generation it might seem a bit more simple, but in the 1900s, becoming famous wasn't as easy.

In the 1900s, being noticed wasn't as easy as uploading a video to the internet of you singing an auto-tuned song on how to take pictures of yourself. The company would hire agents to walk around clubs, restaurants, parks and well any public place, to find the perfect face for their new film or magazine. When they found who they think would be perfect, they would ask for a picture of the person and then show it to the company. If the company likes their face, they would bring the person back and take screen tests, to see how they would look on the big screen. If they like the screen tests, then they invite you to sign a contract which of course says all the issues with appearance, behavior, movie roles, public appearances and of course the consequences for breaking the rules of the contract.

That's not all, now it's time to build a strong image for the person. That includes changing their appearance, which means haircuts, hair color changes, diets and possible plastic surgery. But again, it's only for the better, right? Let's take Marilyn Monroe for example, she wasn't technically your definition of "sexy" before the company who started her career, changed her for the better. She was more of a cute face you would see on the cover of Tiger Beat. Only after her makeover, she was going to be known as one of the sexiest woman in the history of film-making. Then, there is making appearances, which are usually signing photographs and meeting at special events and banquets. But what is the use of making appearance? To gain public recognition of course! Public recognition was and still is very important, in order to make money.

Now that you know a bit about how to become famous then, let's talk about now. With social media, it is a lot easier to get recognized. All you need is nice hair, a perfect body, a talent that doesn't need to be unique, and a sad story. With YouTube, people are becoming famous and getting paid to stand in front of a camera and eat cinnamon or even buy over-expensive clothing, only to show it off to your millions of viewers. Can you think of why people like the magcon boys are so famous? Yes, they are quite good-looking, but do they have a real talent? I guess running around with no shirts on is a talent now days.

This does not mean that all famous stars have no talents, because there are some fantastic artists and actors have great talents. The real problem is not really becoming famous, but staying famous and staying in control of the fame. One hit wonders are not good enough to make you get in every magazine, and doing drugs are not going to help you, but it will only make it worse. As you can see, being famous is a lot harder than becoming famous now.
